This video is a very good example of stop animation. This was the first video to catch my attention and provoke thoughts about using stop animation for my own music video. When de constructing this video it is extremely hard to define the representations and such throughout the visual image, however there are still many factors worth mentioning that could help me make my music video.
This video does not depend on its context and does not define the context for the music. There is little relationship between the music video and the lyrics, this video is very random and typical of this indie sounding band. Colour, style, fashion and make-up are not used overly to contextualise this image, the main factor that defines this image is the stop animation, givin life to the objects around the lead singer, captivating the audiences attention. This video would have taken an extremely long time to construct and I would have great difficulty in re-constructing a similar effect, this video has given me lots of ideas and I feel I could use stop animation in parts of my music video.
The lead singer would have been filmed doing various facial expressions put together very carefully to create the impression of him singin the song. This is something far to difficult to incorporate into my own music video. Also the intense amount of objects they have moving within the video would be far to many for me to deal with. However the kitchen section, where his toast appears to be eaten infront of him and his tea fill itself up is something I am thinking about re-constructing. Also his change in jumpers is something I find very effective and is something Id like to do also. Overall I find this video very effective and very well made, however I feel it a little too random and I myself would like to incoporate more of a narrative and a band sequence aswell.
